Review: Il Mare Sakura Boracay
With the reopening of Boracay, there are a couple of things to take note. One, you can’t just arrive in the island without a confirmed hotel booking; and two, you can only book the DOT-accredited hotels. You can regularly check DOT’s list here.
I’m happy to know that Il Mare Sakura Boracay, where we stayed at last year, is included in the list of DOT-accredited hotels and resorts.
I can still remember how nice the staff were.
When we arrived, we were immediately offered cold towels and refreshments.
Check in was smooth.
We were originally assigned a Standard Room at the 4th floor. However, when they saw that my mom is a senior citizen, they upgraded us to a Deluxe Room on the 2nd floor at no extra cost! (They didn’t have an elevator then. Not sure if they have one now.)
The room was very big, smelled clean and fresh, and with modern amenities.
We had two queen beds with fluffy comforters and pillows.
The bathroom was spotless, and toiletries and quality towels were provided. The shower and toilet were state of the art as well.
Before I forget, they even provided free breakfast during our stay even though I booked a room only option. I believe this was a special introductory offer since they just opened when we were there. The serving was big, and the food is really good.
As for the location, it’s just behind the plaza and Holy Rosary Church so it’s not hard to find. And because it’s not along the main road, you don’t have to worry about noise.
The best part about staying at Il Mare Sakura Boracay is their staff. They were very courteous, friendly, and attentive. I hope management will do its best to keep them. They are the heart of this hotel.
It was my 4th time in Boracay, and so far, this was the best place I’ve stayed at. I’m really glad I chose this hotel as I was with my mom who was a first-time traveler to Boracay. Our stay here made our trip more comfortable and memorable. We hope to stay here again when we return in the future. Will definitely recommend to family and friends as well.
