The Bellevue Resort Bohol

More than seeing the Chocolate Hills or the Tarsier up close, the thing I looked forward to the most was our stay at The Bellevue Resort Bohol. I mean, come on, it is the first five-star resort hotel in Bohol opened just last November 2012.

From Cebu, Endette and I hopped on a ferry to Tagbilaran. As soon as we arrived at the port, we were greeted by their staff, Ivory, and welcomed us with a shell necklace and cold towel. We were soon after whisked away by a private car, and in a matter of minutes, was cruising along the rustic but beautiful scenery of Panglao. Half an hour later, Ivory pointed to the commanding watchtower-like Chairman's suite peeking behind the coconut trees.

This newest baby of The Bellevue Hotels & Resorts is located at Brgy. Doljo -- which, in Tagalog, literally translates to dulo meaning 'end/tip' -- at the tip of Panglao.

We were warmly welcomed by the Duty Manager, and a staff handed us drinks and cold towels while the bellhop took care of our bags.

Just walking through the spacious open-air lobby tastefully decorated with Filipino-inspired pieces, one can immediately get a sense of a relaxing and luxurious stay.

We were also met by the Room Division Manager and got a pleasant surprise that we were upgraded to a Junior Suite! Sweet! :D

THE SUITE

We were just wowed when we entered the room! We have a living room with flat screen TV, working table, coffee & tea-making facilities and well-stocked mini bar. We also have a balcony with unobstructed view of the resort grounds, infinity pool, beach and sea.

And the bedroom? It has the fluffiest bed I've ever seen. It was like sleeping in a bed of clouds. And yeah, there's another flat screen TV and balcony! How can you complain?

Our bed of clouds ;)

One of two closets has a safe, the resort's own rubber slippers, bathrobes and even a flat iron with board.

The bathroom was just divine! There's a separate tub and glass-enclosed shower with rainshower head. The Küdos Spa toiletries were really superb, too.

The resort has a total of 156 guestrooms that can cater from single to multiple occupants depending on the room category. Most rooms face the beach and has access to a balcony on the upper floors and to the garden on the ground floor.

The Presidential Suite (222 sqm.) has two bedrooms with en suite bathroom each, huge living room, its own kitchen and bar, dining area, a Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf beverage system, a Jacuzzi and loungers at the balcony.

The room interiors and overall aesthetic of the resort is modern yet still very Filipino evident in the design and materials used. I like the fact that they played not only with colors, but with textures as well.

THE INFINITY POOL

Undoubtedly, the most picturesque part of The Bellevue is its infinity pool with dive pool.

L-R: 2 feet, 4 feet and 12 feet

The pool looks mighty inviting so it's inevitable that it can be crowded. We found out the best time to go here is early in the morning when everyone else is having their breakfast.

DINING

L-R: Lamian, Marea and Flujo

They have 2 restaurants and a bar. Lamian serves traditional Filipino and international fare using the ingredients the region has to offer. Indoor and al fresco dining options are provided in this welcoming yet sophisticated space. I will be writing a separate post about our dining experience at Lamian.

Marea is perched on a spectacular seaside beach front and serves a la carte creations made fresh from the market.

Lastly, Flujo is their chill-out sunken lobby bar that serves refreshing summer cocktails, mock-tails and tropical shakes.

In-room service is also available.

SPORTS & RECREATIONAL FACILITIES

Underneath the amenity building (where Marea Restaurant is also located) are several facilities like the gym, Azurea Spa and the Kids' Area/Game room.

Bellevue Resort also prepares daily recreational activities for kids and adults. Depending on the weather, they hold a movie night/film showing (every Sunday) at the garden or have live bands perform at Marea.

THE BEACH

The resort also boasts a 250-meter private white beach with plenty of shaded loungers. Guests can relax and frolic to their heart's desire without worrying about privacy or battling with a crowd. During high tide, it's nice to just lounge by the sandbar.

For guests who would like to visit Alona Beach, the resort also has a drop-off and pick-up service for Php100/person/way.

The Emerald Green Diving Center located at the beach area offers non-motorized aqua sports activities, island hopping and diving lessons.

For guests' convenience, there is also a tour desk that can arrange for a countryside and/or Panglao tour.

Don't worry if you run out of money, there's an ATM at the lobby and the souvenir shop is conveniently located so you can spend your newly-withdrawn cash. I kid!

With the facilities, amenities and Boholanon hospitality, it's not hard to see why it's quickly becoming a favorite of foreigners and locals alike. The Bellevue Bohol truly is a world-class resort.
