Boracay Budget Accommodations

I'm sure most of you are irritated with this unbearable heat we're experiencing right now. If only this heat can melt away our body fats, we'd all be bikini models by now. So far, it has only successfully turned me into a human brine fondue fountain.

And speaking of bikini, our natural resort (pun intended) would be to head to the nearest pool or beach, so inevitably, most people will be heading to Boracay...as if it's the only world-class beach we have in the country.

But just before you book your tickets, I'd like you to read about the current situation of the Ati community (original inhabitants of the island) first. If after reading you still want to go to Boracay, then scroll down to check two budget accommodations I stayed at during my last visit.

Beautiful Boracay...sans the crowd

From the main road, pass through D'Mall and turn left until you reach Pascual Store. Here, you'll find an alley dotted with budget accommodations.

LEFT: The beach is just a couple of cartwheels and a pirouette away.
RIGHT: More budget accommodations down this alley.

Villa Simprosa

This is just a few steps from the store -- who also happens to own this place -- and just across the more popular Taj Guesthouse. We stayed here on our first night. FIRST because we had a miscommunication when I made a last minute reservation via SMS. They were only able to reserve us for a night instead of two. I couldn't really complain especially when they didn't require a downpayment.

We were assigned the Jeo room located at the end of the ground floor corridor. For Php1,500.00* per night, you get a no-frills room but with a personal refrigerator, full-sized closet and wall-mounted flat screen TV. And oh, WiFi's good too.

If you need bigger/family rooms, you might get the ones in the annex which is a few minutes walk from the beachfront.

Eriko's House

The following day, I had to scout for a new accommodation which was like a blessing in disguise. Not only did I find a bigger and nicer room, it was cheaper too. They originally quoted me Php1,500.00 but I was able to haggle it down to Php1,000.00*. I told them we'll be leaving very early the next day anyway. ;)

We got a double room on the third floor, which is a bit of a hassle especially if you have lots of things. But at least it has a veranda and a drying rack for your wet swimsuits plus a view of Le Soleil's pool area to boot.

Eriko's is located in what locals refer to as 'annex'. You can get here by taking the alley (refer to third picture in this post). Alternatively, you can also pass by the alley beside Sea World Dive Center which is actually closer.
