Ready to Conquer Mt. Pinatubo

The first time I saw a picture of Mt. Pinatubo’s crater, I had to do a double-take because I thought somebody must have mistakenly captioned it. It looks like a lake in Switzerland! Since then, I’ve been meaning to schedule a trip here but can’t find the right time (and companions). I guess the universe felt it's high time I visit it when an opportunity came in the form of a sponsored trip by Byaheng Victory. :)

I made it my goal this year to be more active and outdoorsy so I'm planning to do some minor climb, and maybe, a major climb too. Though Mt. Pinatubo is a volcano, it seems to fit the bill as a good training ground.

Needless to say, I am excited for our trek this weekend so I've already prepared what I'm going to wear and the things I need to bring. Essentially, one needs to wear quick-dry and comfortable clothes and pack light. Of course I’ve been exercising too so that I won’t easily get exhausted…I hope.

What to wear:

Baseball cap, HeadWare, dri-fit tank top, cotton shirt, capri pants, trekking sandals

What to bring:

Extra clothes, camera, toiletry kit, sunblock (face and body), sunglasses, face towels, hand & face wipes, snacks, medicine and plasters, rain poncho
(not pictured): water, disposable utensils and garbage bags

What I'm looking forward to:
  • The bumpy but thrilling 4x4 ride. I'll do a video recording...if I don't fall off the 4x4.
  • Meeting the participants, and hopefully, making new friends as well.
  • Fun and memorable trek!

Stay tuned for my full trip report next week. :)

  5. One of the prettiest lakes I have seen is here. They allow swimming in the lake, though limited only within the banks. Enjoy Pinatubo. :)
