Krazy Garlik, Resorts World Manila

Yesterday, BF and I went to Resorts World Manila (across NAIA Terminal 3) to check out their cinemas as well as their restaurant lineup.

I don't think they have basement parking so you have to park at the carpark building and walk a short distance to get to the hotel/mall.

Since the complex houses a casino, I think they tried to incorporate a 'Macau feel' in the architecture and interior particularly with the curved pattern mosaic tile flooring.
It's also home to the newest club in the metro: Republiq.

We were supposed to see a movie but we didn't like the lineup so we just decided to have lunch. We lined up at Tao Yuan but then BF spotted Krazy Garlik and decided to give it a try.
As the name implies, the star of the show is garlic even though sometimes it's used more as a garnish than a main ingredient in the dishes.

It's also confusing as to what cuisine they are serving based from the items on the menu as well as with the interiors. As seen on the second picture above, it's obviously Alice in Wonderland with 'Mad Hatter' and other characters whose heads were replaced with tomatoes and garlic.

Anyway, here's what we ordered:
Spiced Water, Php180.00
Strawberry and watermelon

I was not able to taste even a hint of strawberry. :-s

Garlic & Anchovy Affection, Php195.00
We ordered this for appetizer. The anchovy overpowers the taste of garlic and is too salty for my taste.

Hara-Kiri, Php365.00 (to share)
House special spicy fried rice with chilies, squid, shrimps and bacon

At first taste, it immediately reminded me of Pig Out's Kimchi Fried Rice.

Mushroom Matsuri, Php350.00
A festival of mushroom sauted Japanese style

The mushrooms are tender and was able to absorb the sauce well.

Korean Style Garlic Sesame Beef, Php275.00
Pan-fried marinated tender beef strips in spicy soy-chili sauce with garlic and sesame seeds.

I liked this. The beef is tender and flavorful. One thing I noticed though is that this tastes almost the same as the mushroom and the Hara-Kiri. :-s I suspect the sauce is the culprit.

Crema Catalana, Php195.00
Creme brulee

Classic creme brulee topped with what else? Garlic! The candied garlic with the custard actually tasted good, but the hard caramel was too sweet. Nevertheless, it was a good way to end the meal.

Our bill came and it was a whopping Php1,700! (Php1,560 for meals and Php140 for service charge). I perused the receipt and saw that it is owned by the Bistro Group, so that explains the similarity of the menu and taste with Pig Out.

Overall, food was okay but overpriced. I don't think we'd eat here again any time soon. :p

  1. We've been to Krazy Garlik in GB5 previously, although we didn't try the same breadth of food items you did. You raise a good point: it's hard to tell what cuisine they're serving exactly.

We liked the Crema Catalana though. :)

Was service acceptable? The last time Mabie and I ate at a Bistro Group restaurant, we were practically ignored. :(

  2. In fairness, service was good. We didn't have to wait long for the food to arrive and it was served in the order it was supposed to e.g. appetizer then entrees. Don't you just hate it when the opposite happens? :p The manager was also very hands-on.

On the cuisine, they call it 'homegrown concepts'. Whatever that means :p
