Baguio Again

To be honest, every time I go to Baguio I don't officially consider it as a vacation since my paternal grandparents and relatives live there. It's more like a visit. I'd say I probably spend 20%-30% of my life there; sembreaks (when I was still studying of course) and occasionally spending the holidays.

We were there last June 11-14. This year, our visit was special because we threw my late grandfather his 90th birthday party (he passed away 2 months after).

Anyway, as usual...we took Victory Liner, left Cubao station around 3:30 pm and arrived by 10:30 pm. Since it was already late and we didn't want to bother our relatives, we just hailed a cab from the terminal. We stayed in my uncle's (my father's elder brother) house. BF and I were already tired so we went ahead while my mom stayed up chit-chatting with our folks.

First thing we did the following morning was to pay a visit to Tatay. Their house is within the same compound by the way. :p We then went to SM Baguio to do some groceries for the party.

While they were doing the groceries, I toured BF around. First stop is of course Burnham Park.

enjoyed some Strawberry Taho

We decided to have lunch at a Mongolian buffet resto called O' Mai Khan. It's near Burnham Park and Baguio City Hall, Otek St. to be exact.

I think I had the Genghis Khan Steak
while BF had the Mongolian buffet
Excuse the pictures. Lighting's not that good inside the resto.

For dessert I suggested we go to Cafe by the Ruins which is just a few steps from O' Mai Khan. It's along Chuntug Street.

This is so yummy!

After eating, we went back to Burnham Park because BF insisted on boating. :-s In the 25 years I've been going back and forth to Baguio, I've never tried boating because...well, I'm afraid of it because it looks like it'll fall apart in the middle of the (man-made) lake hahaha but he insisted so I had no choice.

It was already starting to rain so we decided to go home and rest.

The following day, we were supposed to go to PMA but BF wasn't so enthusiastic so we decided to go to Mines View instead, but first we strolled along Session Road.

Jeeps going to Mines View can be found near McDonald's in Session Road.
The sleeping St. Bernard
I remember when I was young that there were kids on this cliff that used to catch coins thrown by tourists (see depiction above)! Good thing the government banned it because it's too dangerous.

We then hoarded some goodies from Good Shepherd Convent. :p We spent Php2,500 worth of pasalubong hehe. Of course we bought their famous ube, some snow balls, angel cookies, chocolate coated walnuts, and Alfajor (must try!). Too bad I only got one bottle of that. :(

We also tried Pizza Volante along Session Road
As usual, I had Three Cheese Pizza
The sinful Chocolate-Vanilla Affair
Black and white, hot and cold, but oh so good together :)

The party already started when we got home.
My beloved Tatay on his 90th birthday together with Ima (my grandmother).
I miss him. :(
